Discussion:  John and Jennifer discuss what it is to be a high school teacher in today’s environment.  They discuss their degree of freedom in selecting classroom material and in conducting discussions.  They talk about the their approach to teaching a diverse population of students some of whom have special needs.  They address the drug epidemic and the role of schools in educating teens about it.  They also address budgetary issues facing WV schools.

Discussion:  We discussed the structure, purpose and function of the Jefferson County Teen Court.  Teen participants discussed their experiences as defendants, attorneys, judge and jury for the Teen Court.  They described the operation of the court, the types of cases handled, how they felt about the court and how participation had affected them.

Discussion:  Lakota spiritual beliefs, herbal medicine, native traditions, mineral rights, ancestry, generational change, matriarchy, community, sweat lodge, education, drugs, the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  I think you will find this audio very interesting and insightful.  We were honored to have Mr. Reed speak to us.

The audio is approximately 30 minutes long.  Unfortunately the remaining 30 minutes failed to record and the audio cuts off midstream.  We hope to have Mr. Reed back again to continue the discussion.  The show was broadcast on WSHC, Shepherdstown, from the campus of Shepherd University on Feb 10, 2016.
